Why was the Green Exchange Window created?
The Green Exchange Window (GEW) was launched during the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA) annual conference in Kigali (26-28 Nov 2025). To deepen and diversify Rwanda’s capital markets, creating new product segments (beyond traditional equity/debt) and positioning Rwanda as a regional sustainable finance hub (under its broader green growth, green economy and financial-centre ambitions).
It provides issuers with a dedicated platform to raise capital specifically for environmentally sustainable and socially responsible projects. By listing green, social, or sustainability-linked instruments on the GEW, issuers can access a growing pool of global and regional investors who prioritize ESG criteria.
It offers a transparent and credible environment to invest in projects that generate both financial returns and measurable environmental or social impact by enabling investors to diversify their portfolios with instruments like green bonds or sustainability-linked bonds, which are tied to tangible outcomes such as renewable energy, climate resilience, or sustainable agriculture.
WHAT THE Green Exchange Window OFFERS
Empowering Green Investment and Sustainable Development. What sustainable securities are displayed on the GEW Platform?
Green Bonds
Green Bonds are dedicated instruments that finance projects with clear environmental benefits — such as renewable energy, sustainable transport, and climate-resilient infrastructure. Through the Green Exchange Window, issuers can attract investors committed to sustainability while showcasing their contribution to Rwanda’s green economy.
Sustainability Linked Bonds
Sustainability-Linked Bonds (SLBs) allow issuers to align their financing with measurable sustainability goals. These bonds tie financial performance to ESG targets, rewarding progress toward sustainability outcomes. The Green Exchange Window supports issuers with guidance, certification, and visibility in the growing sustainable finance market.
